I find Zoe very useful giving personal insights into my own reactions to certain foods, guidance on good swaps for things using the Zoe app and useful recipe suggestions. The Zoe podcast gives up to date findings and is totally free. As a Zoe member I had cause to make contact recently and Imogen sorted out my issue promptly. When Big Food constantly tries to bambozzle us with claims for their chemically enhanced products it’s good to feel Zoe is on our side!

I've been attempting to cancel my subscription since January by email, as my phone blocks the app again and despite automated replies saying that my enquiry is being dealt with, I haven't recived a reply.
I'm now £100 down, after 4 monthly payments of £25 and would like a refund.
Apparently, another testing kit has also been sent out and delivered, but not to my address.

The good news is that my mass has reduced since I started logging my food intake with Zoe just the fa t that I write it down makes a huge difference to what I choose to eat : and the volume.
Having
each meal (when I remember to log it) criticises helps me balance my daily intake.
The Zoe podcasts are brilliant as I listen to them regularly.

It’s such a good way to learn about specific foods combinations and how you can tweak meals to make the most of the nutrients in a way that works only for you. But the downside is that the AI doesn’t recognise all of the different meals you try to enter. Sometimes I do go and eat out with my husband and I wouldn’t know an exact recipe and the description won’t be good enough for the AI to understand. And it’s also a real shame that exercise can’t be logged as we know that can be a crucial factor on what we eat.

Hidden ongoing subscription costs

I was charged hundreds of pounds for ongoing Zoe subscription which was absolutely not made clear at the beginning. I’m £900 down and have had a nightmare when trying to communicate with customer services.

Didn’t end well with Zoe

Didn’t end well with Zoe. They snuck in an autorenew at the end which I had no idea about and then took £75 out of my account before I realised. I couldn’t even use the app during that period. Trying to get any traction on customer service was useless - a series of automated responses and a sort of gaslighting approach of not answering questions asked and then declaring the problem solved. Once you give a bad public review, they then engage - but through the app, switching over from email, so you have to constantly check if you have a response. Ultimately their response was that they’re keeping my £75 for having provided nothing at all. It’s pretty poor, particularly given the positivity and kindness they play on in their marketing. The slightest problem exposes that they are just a profit focused contact centre. I certainly do regret handing over cash to Zoe. In terms of diet and lifestyle, it’s not really anything you can’t learn online for free. Good luck if you do take it on - it will most likely be fine, as long as you do t have to contact them.

great technology, useful for a limited time, but they keep sucking your credit card.

All good on the measuring blood glucose, gut health and diet recommendations.
But all these perks mean absolutely nothing when (1)you don't own your data: once you leave the app you lose all your measurements, which are very valuable. Not to mention that they keep it for themselves and use it as they see fit.
(2) recurring ghost charges: after the significant initial investment, you continue paying as long as you use the app....and even if not. Once you have used the most of the app you simply forget you have it, but ZOE does not forget to charge every single month without even bothering to send receipt by email so you are aware of these charges. A year has passed and I just noticed of 12 of those monthly charges. Once you cancel the subscription (remember, the results from the measurements you paid for are gone) they still charge one or two months in advance.

I’ve loved the experience of Zoe

I’ve loved the experience of Zoe. I definitely felt in control of my food. The recipes have been a lot of fun to cook and all have tasted great. I have been very evangelical about the experience, even though I’ve fallen on and off the wagon , largely down to an insanely busy life. If there is any criticism, it’s the cooking and shopping takes a lot of effort, and with a family that requires different food it’s just not always been practical. I’m back on it now and looking forward to feeling better.

Thanks again Zoe

I find Zoe coaches and members of staff unfailingly helpful and kind.
None more than James today over changes to my membership and problems I had due to the card I was using as it had been stolen. Thank you Zoe and especially James today!

The good and not so good of Zoe

Provides insight into my diet and some personalisation. Fairly easy to use. Graphs are helpful. However, you do not have the option to keep your own data if you leave, search for foods doesn’t work well sometimes and some data are incorrect/ inflexible. Also given that the initial activities show that doing exercise impacts sugar metabolism, there is no option to add details of exercise done. It seems almost impossible to meet protein targets within an otherwise optimum diet.

Loving Zoe so far

Loving Zoe so far. It may seem like a big expense initially but so worth it for the insight into my own health, the knowledge, and the health benefits.

Not worth it!

I give it 2 stars as I did have some benefits. Be aware though that it's not worth the money at all!!
I subscribed to a one year membership. Initially, I thought it was exciting, all the numbers and their meanings. However, for me, the explanations seemed to be superficial, and the retest gave NOTHING at all except some new numbers to the microbes. If you're an athlete, you'll have constantly low scores as your protein intake is "too high" (even if it's just 2*bodyweight, g,kg).
Also, customer service is awful and they don't address your problems at all. I tried to cancel my membership early, which I know is not something I normally could do. In my case however, after the many disappointments, I wanted to use the 1-1 diet coaching as described in the membership when I bought it. They said it's not available for me and sent me the terms of service. Somehow, it was dated to the exact same day I subscribed. So I read and accepted the previously live terms and they try to convince me that the coaching doesn't apply to my membership. Awful customer service, no understanding at all, and avoiding to answer directly my questions.
I don't recommend it at all - of you still decide to subscribe, use the shortest option available and save yourself the frustration many of us are facing.

The kindness of Toyin on the chat

The kindness of Toyin on the chat. She was very patient with me and made sure she understood what I needed. She then took her time to help resolve the problem. For me it’s the people in this world who matter not necessarily machines and devices. Human kindness goes a long way. Thank you Toyin

Zoe was my last last ditch effort and I was amazed!

I had given up on figuring out how to lose weight as I got older. I’d always been able to drop a few lbs when I needed to but none of my trusted methods worked anymore. I knew it had to be what I was eating. Zoe has taught me things I didn’t understand, not just what I eat but how I eat through the day and space out or combine things. Amazing. The app is phenomenal in translating pics into an entry. Even Chicken 65 at an Indian restaurant! I’m glad I subscribed for a full year. One month in and down about 5 lbs so far. I had been stuck at one weight for at least 8 months and could only creep up, never down. I feel GREAT too! I sleep well, a whole new world for sure!
