Just needed help finding a local ATM. One kind associate said what I needed was an ATM that accepted cash. Who knew accepting cash would be an issue. She found an ATM near me, actually at my grocery store, that accepted cash. Also she explained the problems I had trying other locations. This was my third ATM stop. Apparently my account was in a non active status. She was so helpful and patient, I asked and she was kind enough to wait until my deposit was accepted to disconnect. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE.
Customer service asked the right questions to assist me in articulating my issue. Research was done, problem rectified quickly. Did take two calls but both were helpful! Thanks guys!
I was having trouble with logging into my account, an a simple call made it so easy. I have had a checking account with OneUnited for more then a year. I just made them my Primary Bank. The response with the customer service was quick with a pleasant voice on the other end. Gave me a confidence feeling that I am at the right place..

Had an account with them
Had an account with them, but let me start at the beginning. First of all, they make it extremely hard to deposit money. I was told to go to either Walgreens or CVS to make a deposit because there are no branches near me. So the ATM that takes deposits doesn't! Then they say you can make deposits at the register. You can, but it costs you $5 for every $500 you deposit. This has to be a joke! So the next issue, they allow you to add an external bank to transfer funds into your account, another joke! So I set up my other account to transfer funds into the account. The first one goes well with no problems. The second transfer I initiate was something totally different. I get an email saying that the transfer was stopped by my other bank. I call my other bank and they say that it wasn't them that stopped the transfer, so I call OneUnited. One United tells me that they will send me an email so that I can verify my external account, so I say no problem. I never got that email. The email that I did get was an email saying that my account was being closed for deposit fraud. Deposit fraud? I call and tell the customer service representative that I have all the proof that the account belongs to me and guess what she says? "I'm sorry, sir, but your account is being closed so get all your money out of our bank before 4/28/25." Seriously? I tried supporting my own and look what it got me! Makes no sense when all they had to do was verify my account. After reading all the other horror stories associated with this bank, I'd advise anyone considering joining to steer clear!

Disappointed customer
I have been a OneUnited customer since 2020 for the sake of supporting a Black owned bank. I was excited to move away from the big banks such as Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Things started off great. I enjoy getting paid 2 days early. However this is my 3rd time out of the country and each time I have had difficulty accessing my money or using my card. This is a horrible feeling traveling abroad as a single woman and not having access to necessary funds. I have called customer service multiple times, included my travel plans in the app and still NO ACCESS to money. When I call they tell me I have to wait 24-48 hours. Or I can’t get anyone on the phone at all. For this reason alone, when I get back to the states I will be closing this account and opening one with my local credit union. I am saddened by this decision but as a person who frequently travels I do not feel safe or supported with this bank.

I am excited about being a OneUnited Bank Family Member. My sign up process was stress free. I did have a question before completing the sign up process so I called the customer service number. Mr. Josh was my customer service representative and he provided me with exceptional customer service. As a result of my successful experience with the online service and Mr. Josh professional customer service, I immediately reached out to a family member about joining the One United Family. It's a new season! It's a new day!

Outrageous check hold policy
Started my account at OneUnited because I've heard great things about them through SiriusXM. But, when I did a mobile deposit for my paper payroll check, I was disappointed that they decided to place a 5 day hold on it. When I changed my direct deposit to OneUnited, my employer gave me a check instead of direct depositing to my previous account. When I was told there was no way around the hold, I agreed to wait. Now the hold turned into 9 days, which is definitely a problem. I've contacted OU, spoke with a very nice person in CS, who stated she would send in a request to reduce hold time back down to 5 days. It's been over 24 hours and no reply as of yet. I've even sent documentation showing the check has cleared and included bank's telephone number.
I've never, ever had any bank put a hold on a PAYROLL check. So my suggestion is a hold should be released if the customer can provide proof their deposited check has cleared. I can't pay bills without money in the bank. So OU has my money in their bank that I cannot access. This is a zero star review, but I'm giving one star for ease of use and another for the good live customer service.

Venmo direct transfer incurs fees even though the regular transfer does not. Not refunded fully or acknowledged
Monthly I make a transfer from my Venmo account into my savings account, but for two months ( Dec + Jan) I received a fee despite the transfer being made. The rep and their manager insisted this fee is always charged and that's incorrect. When I initiated the transfer in Venmo as a regular 2-3 day transfer, no fee. But the instant deposits show up in the account as Real Time Payment Deposit VENMO vs External Deposit VENMO CASHOUT. The cashouts incurred no charge. The rep insisted I was wrong until I pointed out the difference. They then told me refunds aren't usually given but did a one time return for one but not both of the fees.
At this point, I am not sure this is the account for me. It's not my main account and don't feel like playing games every month for an account that doesn't even have any interest for my troubles. My other accounts at capital one or greenwood has no fees and interest in the checking and in the basic savings with no limits. I opened this during the pandemic trying to bank black but at this point, I've spent more in fees than I've saved.
