SHADY AF

These people are part of Evolve Bank 866.395.2754 who has a class action law suit against them for selling personal information. The second you try to withdraw a significant amount back to your own bank, Step will lock your card and demand selfies of you holding your license and weird things like that. DO NOT use these people. I am having a hard time getting my money back.

Update: notice that they lied in their reply and said i got my money back. They also said keep begging them by email. Its all right here. These people are BAD and they dont care. My lawyer friend is putting a suit together under the EFTA as we speak. They need a class action suit against them.

Koi and Amy are top notch at Step

Koi and Amy are top notch at Step ! My daughter had many fraudulent charges on her card recently . Koi helped us along last evening a great deal . Amy stepped in early this morning to assure us that the fraud team was on it . My daughter got home from school and noticed the charges were already being reviewed . I couldn’t be happier with the service we received at Step !
SO EFFECIENT & PROFESSIONAL

DO NOT OPEN A STEP ACCOUNT!!

Opened an account for my daughter a few years ago so she could start saving money and learn financial budgeting and savings. She got a job a year ago when she turned 15, and has been putting the money into her step account, in a special account that was labeled“car savings” so she could save up to purchase a vehicle.
She finally had enough to purchase a car she found that she wanted, and when we went to withdrawal the funds, they were declined due to “daily limits”.
I reached out to customer service yesterday explaining the predicament and asked for a temporary limit lift, and after going through all kinds of verifications and jumping through hoops, I was told someone would reach out to me within 1-3 days…. This is after I explained that the vehicle sale was taking place TODAY!
She ended up withdrawing the max limit of $1200 which included $12 in fees yesterday, and I spotted her the remainder and made another transfer today to my checking account that would also take 1-3 business days.
I JUST now got an email at 7:17pm today with a condescending tone letting me know that they funds we had originally requested to be able to withdrawal were not available, and I should “request a limit increase when I have the funds available in my account”.
I have never in my life seen any type of bank or establishment that holds your money hostage, especially when the account was specifically for a car savings. Had it not been for me having the funds to lend her, she would have lost the car sale and would have had to find another vehicle, which would have been horrible and heartbreaking.
I will be transferring everything out as soon as I possibly can, and will be closing the account down and opening a savings for my daughter at my bank immediately.

Hi Mir, thank you for your feedback. We understand that the limits set to your account were not satisfactory. Initially, Step accounts are set up for new bank account owners and can be requested to have their limits increased. It also sounds like your account has been limited as part of our safety review during this time. Any funds remaining in your Step account have been returned to their original accounts via bank transfer. Please be sure to check your email for a message from our Step Safety Team, and forward any questions to safety@step.com for review. We look forward to hearing from you! 💙💗💛

It's a fun account with some small perks

This is a great account for trying to fix your credit score, but it's for kids so you will need that.
I'm always happy after speaking with customer service.
Though if you use a sketchy merchant and can't find a way to contact them, you will not get a refund.
So I advise to be careful who you buy from.

Unhelpful with credit card fraud casw

Hey so I’m a current unemployed college student which means any possible money I have I am careful about using. I woke up unexpectedly to find out my card information was stolen and someone was making repeated charges taking half of my savings. It has been a month now with no new information and when I messaged trying to see if anything could help the process I got unhelpful information. I am disappointed because Step has been so good to use up until now and it’s clear they don’t really care about helping me.

I've been with Step banking for years now since it first started and the amount of improvement and overall features has been very promising. Along with the excellent customer support and their tendency to handle things in a timely manner. Overall happy to use them as my main bank compared to others.

Horrible dishonest company! SCAM!

This is the most ghetto cards I've ever had. First off it does nothing for your credit it adds a secured line a d says your making a min payment which brought my score down. 2nd they have held $100 of mine on a purchase that the merchant canceled for over a month abd tried to Blame the merchant when I had talk to the merchant. They are dishonest a d being investigated by the FBI. I've had several people confirm this. Do not lose your money too!

Hi Matthew. Using your Step card for regular purchases will help build your credit, however if you open a credit line outside of Step your credit score may change. We'd love to answer any questions you have about this, feel free to chat with us or email us at hello@step.com! Typically if a merchant still has a pending charge it's likely either a gas purchase or a hotel purchase, which can take up to 30 days to resolve. We'd be happy to answer any questions you have, please reach out to us! Thanks for being a part of Step 💙💗💛
