Relay is fantastic. Most banks charge monthly, offer 1 account, and could care less about our business’ success. Relay is different. No fees, 20 accounts per business, optimized for Profit First, and excellent customer service. Kudos to Taylor and Wendy!

If you have ANY issues with eChecks not being sent out, cancelled for no reason or any difficulty at all this is the WORST online customer service I've every received. Each call ends with "Email and and we will resolve" I email.. and NOTHING happens. The concern I have most is around taxes. They are not received and I seriously request that if you're conconsidering using this bank... think really hard. As of April 2025 i can swear that their customer service and help in resolving issues (ESPECIALLY TAX PAYMENTS) is horrible.
Thank you Bianca! I was resistant about trying Relay for my business accounts but I will say so far I have been extremely pleased. I did try to figure things out on my own as that is just how I am but every single time I reached out (which has been a couple with odd requests), the team has been helpful. Today I had the privilege of working with Bianca, and she was extremely helpful with helping customize my accounts and quickly at that.

A good lesson learned.
Buyer beware: On April 14th, 2025 I was notified by a compliance officer at Relay that all my accounts will immediately be placed on HOLD (frozen) due to an audit they needed to conduct. This audit was triggered by me using Relay's ACH feature to pay a contractor. I run a vacation rental business and one of my main contractors is for housecleaning. I was invoiced and I sent the amount via ACH, as I have done in previous moths. I was told my account would be put on HOLD (meaning I could not access any of my money) until I sent them supporting documentation. I immediately did so. I was told that the audit should not take more than 3 days. It is now April 20th, 2025 and all my funds are still frozen. I have called customer support several times and they have been zero help. The customer support is a south asian off-shore operation and will not connect you with anyone from Relay.
I understand the need to ensure all is good in the banking world and to conduct an audit if needed. What I cannot understand for the life of me is the delay and dragging of feet. You are locking up people's money. I am far from the only person who has experienced this. Simply go to Reddit and see all the similar situations.
Delay and Relay rhyme. Coincidence?
UPDATE 4/20/2025: I was just contacted (email) by Relay support (Easter Sunday) to let me know my account has been unfrozen. Here is their email:

As part of our regulatory obligations and our commitment to protecting both our customers and our organization, Relay’s compliance team conducts periodic reviews of transactions. These reviews are designed to help us maintain the integrity and security of our platform, and sometimes require us to temporarily place a hold on an account or reach out to business owners for more information, depending on the nature of the transactions involved.
We completely understand how concerning and frustrating it can be to experience a disruption in access to your funds—especially when you're trying to run your business. Please know that these actions are not taken lightly and are only carried out when absolutely necessary to meet compliance standards and uphold the safety of our financial ecosystem.
That said, we’re happy to let you know that your account is no longer on hold, and your funds are now fully accessible. We truly apologize for the inconvenience and want to advise this would not be a recurring procedure on our end.

UPDATE 4/21/2025:
I had the chance to speak with a Relay representative today on the phone. he was very helpful in putting my concerns at ease regarding this latest freeze on my accounts. He explained the freeze was triggered by an incorrect technical programing and that the issue has been resolved. He apologized profusely and I appreciated the sentiment. He explained that this issue affected only a few people and I was one of the unlucky ones. He also assured me that nothing like this will happen again and because of this incident, new measures in training and redundancies have been implemented to protect their clients from another issue like this.
I continue to love the usability and interface of this software and its ease of use. I believe we will stay with Relay but I will not be keeping all my eggs in one basket anymore. Good lesson. I will up my rating to 3 stars from 1 star.

Relay looked promising, failed to deliver
Relay looked promising, but my experience was frustrating. I submitted everything they requested—including personal bank statements showing strong balances—and still got locked out of my account application with no real explanation. Their support was still emailing me as if the process was active. I wasted days trying to work with them. Ended up opening a business account elsewhere in under 2 hours with no issues.

I would urge anyone that wants run their business without headaches and prioritizes ease of communication and problem solving to stay far far away from Relay. We have experienced a lengthy account freeze over a routine and small dollar amount transaction. As equally frustrating we haven’t been able to speak to anyone directly to understand why they have frozen it and how to effectively resolve it. Instead we receive boiler plate emails lacking any direction towards a resolution. They have kept our business handcuffed for over a week. No payroll can be sent and vendors can’t be paid. We’re withholding deposits for fear of additional funds being locked away and unable to use. I will be returning to a brick and mortar institution.

John with the compliance team froze my account for no valid reason and was completely un responsive when trying to resolve the issue. I have now had to pause payroll for all of my employees because I have not gotten a response and now they are closing for the weekend. It is completely bizarre and unacceptable and if you are looking for a bank for your business I would highly suggest staying away from Relay.

This bank is a scam and we have…
This bank is a scam and we have reported them to various agencies. They will close your account and freeze all funds with NO notification, no email, no call nothing. Trying to reach them is a complete joke. When you do get a live person, they are incredibly rude and will hang up on you. They are currently holding $4000 from all of our accounts and will not return it to us. Go to a legit bank and not Relay. We have filed reports with the FTC, BBB, contacted the IRS and State Dept.

A business online bank for small businesses that don't approve small businesses lol. Find a different bank cause this one only wants customers that already have a bigger business, they also asked for 3 bank statements, if i am just starting how am gonna have bank statements?
