I tried this insurance which I can say is very innovative with its fast and efficient App. I needed it in Vietnam and via chat they immediately recommended it to me. Luckily I didn't need treatment or medical assistance. The price is excellent. They are fast and reliable. I will use it again for future trips.

After completing the purchase the app wrote ‘something went wrong’ and I did the entire process again.
The result is that you charged me twice and sold me two identical insurances. Customer service
addressed the issue quickly and I got my money back. The error message on the app is still present and a bit confusing. All in all I am using Heymondo for a while and always happy with the purchase process. Thankfully, I never had to experience their service in case of need 🤞

Awful experience - not recommended

We contracted an insurance with Heymondo for a trip to sudamerica. We lost 2 flights with connections, the first one because of rain and the second one because of a technical issue in the plane.

When we sent the claim, heymondo redirected it to IMA Ibérica, a company that has answered with arrogance denning any reimbursement.

For the first flight, we had Iguazu->Buenos Aires->Santiago->Punta Arenas. We missed the 2nd connection due to a storm. They refused to pay anything (not even the lunch), as the initial connection had less than 2h.

On the second, we couldn't take our flight back due to mech issues (Bogotá->Madrid) and were reallocated to a flight Bogotá->London->Madrid. The insurance company payed just for the dinner we had at the airport, refusing to pay the lunch we had in London and the transport between the hotel and the airport.

The only reason not to rate with a single star, is that Heymondo's staff has contacted (and even called) us, but eventually the proposed solution was: please, contact IMA Ibérica again.

In this case, we lost just money and time, but if they treat health issues in the same way, I'd be really worried. Next time, we'll definitely check better who is ultimately responsible and look for the reviews (You can find imaiberica.es in truspilot with a rating of 2.0).

First of all we're sorry to hear of these set-backs in your trip and that the claims process has not been as expected. 

Regarding your travel insurance coverage, it includes missed connecting flights if your initial flight is delayed due to one of the covered reasons and because of this you are unable to make the connecting flight. This applies so long as the layover time scheduled between the flights is at least 2 hours long. Unfortunately, in this particular case, as the layover was less than this, this guarantee does not apply. 

As for flight delays, your policy covers the reimbursement of your extra accommodation, meal and travel expenses at the place of the delay. 

While we understand there was an error in the amount reimbursed to you initially, we know that our Customer Service team has since been in touch with you over the phone and via email to clarify the policy coverage in both cases and to ensure that all the expenses you incurred at the place of the delay are reimbursed to you. You should expect to receive payment shortly. 

We apologise for any confusion in the resolution of your claim and remain at your disposal for any further questions you might have.

To be able to use the App, you will first have to register. 
Depending on your phone settings it may first appear in Spanish when you download it, but once you've registered it will change to English. 
To be able to register you first fill in your Passport number (as it appears on the policy) and then enter a password (any password you like). 
You will then receive an email with a confirmation code that you should enter in the App to complete registration. After that you’ll be able to freely access the the APP in English and make the most of all its services.

Watch out if you’re a nomad!

If you’re a nomad, avoid this company. I bought a year of coverage for my travels only to find out that it requires you to return home every 26 days for it to be valid… Upon finding this out I tired to switch my policy or get a partial refund (I was only 30 days into my trip) and the customer service was not only terrible but they said I just have to keep the policy and there is nothing they can do to change or cancel it.. Boooo 👎 Total waste of money and they are sneaky.. I’ll also add that I was displaced by the earthquake in Thailand and they wouldn’t cover that either.. the fine print basically makes it so you can’t get help unless the government orders you to leave the country etc..

Please note that the Annual Multi-trip policy you've taken out covers all the trips you take during 12 months, with a maximum duration per trip of 36 consecutive days. This information appears on the website and in the insurance policy you receive at the time of purchase.

iOS app doesn't updates

The app did't show me the 2nd plan I subscribed (the one that should be active) and shows me only the first one which was already expired because it was of a previous travel! Please improve the iOS app or the api, the insurance and price are very good I think, but without a good app experience it is almost useless because I wasn't able to see my assurance reference code

Please note that to register to our App it is required to introduce the ID or Passport that has been used to make the purchase.

A year traveling with kids

I was travelling around Asia with my partner and kids for a year. We used Heymondo as our insurance and were really happy.

We had mixed luck, a few injuries and infections but had access to incredible health care at great local hospitals.

Very simple affordable and reimbursed me swiftly when I need to use them.
